IS IT SAFE TO TRAVEL TO MOROCCO?As there are some cultural things to educate yourself about, Move Morocco provides safe trips. An experienced guide will be with you for the duration of your trip, helping to ensure your safety. Overall, Morocco has a good relationship with the US, and the local people will welcome you there with great hospitality.

WHICH AIRPORT IS BEST TO FLY INTO IF I'M COMING FROM THE UNITED STATES?The most economical airports for flights from the US are Casablanca, or Marrakech

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR WHEN I TRAVEL TO MOROCCO?The climate is a dry desert. In winter, the temperatures are cold. In summer, very hot. Spring and fall are hot to moderate temps. The biggest thing to note however, is the fact that you'll be traveling to a Muslim country. This means that the people dress very modestly, especially women. We recommend wearing modest clothing.

I WANT TO EXPERIENCE MOROCCO BUT I DON'T HAVE A TRAVEL BUDDY.No problem! Move Morocco was founded on a women's retreat series. Here, at our women's culture retreats, you will meet other women, as well as connect with the culture of Morocco. Our goal is to create connection on both platforms.

WHAT CURRENCY SHOULD I TAKE?The currency used in Morocco is Moroccan Dirham (MAD), but is a closed currency which means you will not be able to bring it with you. You can take out cash in Morocco at ATMs once you arrive in Morocco. Please check with your bank that your card is accepted in Morocco before travel, and we highly recommend bringing two cards in case you have any issues. Please note: your bank may charge transaction fees when you use your card in Morocco.

WHAT IF I HAVE SPECIAL DIETARY NEEDS?Yes, we can cater for most dietary requirements. Please let us know prior to your travel experience.

WHAT ABOUT THE WATER?The guides will provide you with 1.5L of water each day. Water is also available from natural springs and at various village stores along the way. You may want to consider taking purification tablets with you for use in the spring water.

IS THERE INTERNET AVAILABLE?WiFi is available at the hotels, and we recommend using an eSIM, which you can find HERE. However, please note that reception can be unreliable at times due to the remote location. There is no internet access at the mountain refuge, and phone signal may also be limited.

HOW MUCH SHOULD I BUDGET FOR LUNCHES?You can plan on lunches being 100-200 MAD or $10-$20 per day per lunch.

WHAT IS THE TIPPING POLICY?Morocco has a strong tipping culture. Tipping is at the discretion of the guest and depends on your personal experience. At the end of your trip, if you feel that your guides and porters did an outstanding job, then tipping is greatly appreciated.

ITINERARY
Day 1 Arrive in Casablanca-3:30 pm
Upon your arrival at Casablanca Airport, we will be there to greet you with a sign displaying your full name in large print. You’ll find us inside the terminal, in the area where families and friends eagerly await their loved ones. Once we meet, you’ll be transferred to your hotel for check-in and a chance to settle in. Later, take some time to explore the stunning Hassan II Mosque, an architectural masterpiece perched on the edge of the Atlantic Ocean. As the evening unfolds, we’ll enjoy a delicious dinner at a nearby restaurant, where you can savor your first taste of Moroccan cuisine. Then, it's time to unwind and get a good night’s rest—exciting adventures await you in the days ahead!
Day 2 Casablanca to Fes
As we make our way to Fes, we’ll pass through Morocco’s historic Imperial Cities, including the country’s capital, Rabat, and the charming city of Meknes, each rich with history and cultural significance. Upon arriving in Fes, Morocco’s cultural capital, we’ll embark on a locally guided tour, exploring a traditional ceramic workshop, the famous leather tannery, and the UNESCO-listed Medina, a labyrinth of ancient streets brimming with history and craftsmanship. To unwind after a day of exploration, you’ll have the opportunity to experience a traditional Hammam, followed by a delightful dinner and a relaxing evening in our beautiful riad—a perfect way to end the day in this enchanting city.
Day 3 Fes to Merzouga
As we travel from the ancient city of Fes to Merzouga, we will traverse the scenic Middle Atlas Mountains, adorned with cedar forests and Berber villages, with wild monkeys. After passing through Ifrane, known as the 'Switzerland of Morocco,' we will continue southward to Erfoud, a gateway to the Sahara, and finally reach the golden dunes of Merzouga. Here, you will be greeted with a warm Moroccan welcome in your Riad, where you will enjoy a delicious traditional dinner.
Day 4 Desert Day
Today will begin with a delightful breakfast at the Riad Jouba. We will dive into the desert culture beginning with exploring sand dunes in 4X4 vehicles. We will engage in a cultural experience with nomadic communities, sharing tea and gaining insights into their traditional way of life. As we traverse the desert landscape, we’ll take a moment to search for fossils, and listening to the rhythmic beats of a Gnawa African band, absorbing the unique musical heritage of the region. We’ll arrive back at the Riad for lunch before beginning the camel ride to the luxury desert camp, where the night sky over the dunes creates an unforgettable experience in the heart of the Sahara desert. Your night stay will be complete with star gazing, Berber music, dancing, & a full traditional dinner.
Day 5 Merzouga to Toudra Gorge
After a beautiful Sahara sunrise on the dunes, breakfast at the camp, and sandboarding, the journey continues as you travel from Merzouga to Toudra Gorge. Along the route, we will say goodbye to the awe inspiring sand dunes. We will witness the stunning landscapes of the Draa Valley which is known for its palm groves and traditional Kasbahs. We will stop in Ksar Mellab to experience traditional Moroccan festival clothing. After lunch we will arrive in Toudra Gorge, where we will learn about the authentic Berber rugs at our favorite traditional shop. Afterwards, we will have the opportunity to walk between the 1,200 foot tall cliffs, along the beautiful Toudra river. Later, we will enjoy dinner and a night stay at the cozy hotel in the Gorge.
Day 6 Toudra Gorge to Ouarzazate
This morning, we’ll begin our adventure with visits to some of our favorite traditional sites. Our first stop is Kasbah Amridil, a beautifully preserved mud-brick fortress where we’ll uncover the secrets of eco-sustainability in early Moroccan life and learn how these ancient structures were designed to withstand the test of time. Next, we’ll head to the Skoura family pottery, where we’ll witness the incredible transformation of raw earth into stunning handcrafted ceramics—a craft that has been passed down through generations.
In the afternoon, we’ll explore the iconic Ait Ben Haddou, a breathtaking ksar that has set the stage for countless Hollywood films. As we wander through its historic alleyways, we’ll discover the unique architecture of the kasbah and hear stories of the families who once called this UNESCO-listed site home. This day is a true immersion into Morocco’s rich history, artistry, and cultural heritage!

Day 7 Ouarzazate to Marrakech
After breakfast, we’ll set off toward Marrakech, winding through the breathtaking landscapes of the High Atlas Mountains. Along the way, we’ll pass through the Valley of Roses, a region known for its fragrant fields and rosewater production. Upon arrival in Marrakech, we’ll dive into a half-day guided tour of the Medina, exploring its lively souks and hidden gems. We’ll visit a traditional spice shop, where you’ll discover the fragrant flavors of Morocco, and stop at a renowned Berber jewelry store to admire exquisite handcrafted pieces. As evening falls, we’ll soak in the energy of Jemaa El Fna, the heart of Marrakech, buzzing with street performers, storytellers, and mesmerizing music. After a delicious dinner, we’ll retreat to our beautiful riad—a peaceful oasis in the heart of the city. Here, we’ll spend our final night reminiscing about the incredible journey before preparing for the next day's departure.
Day 8 Marrakech Departure-6:00 am
Start your morning with one last peaceful moment on your riad’s rooftop, taking in the sights and sounds of Marrakech as the city wakes up. After breakfast, we’ll arrange your transfer to Marrakech Airport, ensuring a smooth and stress-free departure. Though your journey in Morocco comes to an end, the memories and experiences will stay with you forever. Safe travels, and we hope to welcome you back again soon!
