After the summit, the journey slows as you travel by camel into the Sahara Desert, where you’ll spend the night in a luxury camp beneath a sky full of stars—grounded, reflective, and deeply connected to the moment.

Itinerary
DAY 1 - ARRIVE IN MARRAKECH You will be picked up at the Marrakech RAK airport. Our group pickup time is 3:30 pm. We can arrange extra transport for you for extra $25 fee as needed. We will be waiting outside of the airport upon your arrival. After that we will check into our hotel, and have restful night sleep.
DAY 2 - HIKE TO REFUGE You will kick-start your morning by driving to Imlil and entrusting your bags to the muleteers, setting the stage for an exhilarating mountain adventure. After a traditional Moroccan breakfast, Embark on a three-hour hike through the rugged landscapes, ascending towards the mountain settlement of Sidi Chamharouch. Here, surrounded by the scenic beauty of the Atlas Mountains, you’ll have lunch prepared by your skilled cooks. Continue your trek for another three hours to reach the Toubkal Base Camp. As the sun begins to set, settle into the refuge for the night, where a filling, traditional dinner awaits.
DAY 3 - SUMMIT HIKE On the third day we will ascend to the summit of Mount Toubkal, standing at an impressive 4,167 meters. We will rise early at 5 am, fueled by a hearty breakfast at the refuge. After approximately three hours, reach the summit just as the sun graces the horizon, illuminating the snowy expanse. From this elevated vantage point, gaze upon the contrasting landscapes below—the lush greenery of the Anti-Atlas Mountains and the vastness of the Sahara Desert. We’ll take a moment to absorb the panoramic views before beginning the descent, heading downhill toward the charming village of Imlil. *Overnight stay in Riad Bab Imlil or similar.
DAY 4 - IMLIL TO DADES GORGE We will depart from Imlil in the morning. Surrounded by the Atlas Mountains, we'll traverse through the winding roads that lead to the ancient ksar of Ait Ben Haddou in the cinema town of Ouarzazate. We’ll explore the well-preserved mud-brick Kasbahs and soak in the historical charm of this UNESCO World Heritage Site. From Ouarzazate, we'll venture to Dades Gorge, stopping at the fascinating Amridil Kasbah to take a 1 hour tour, and learn about the self-sustaining way of life. We will conclude our day, as we arrive at our hotel nestled above the palm valley where we will enjoy dinner and a night’s stay.
DAY 5 - JOURNEY TO THE DESERT After a night’s rest in the beautiful Gorge, we will wake up early to make the short trip to a nearby gorge called Toudra. This is a place where cliffs rise high above the canyon floor. You will have a chance to walk along the beautiful river that carves the beautiful scene, or do a via feratta hike. We will visit the authentic rug shop where we will learn how Berber rugs are woven, with a chance make a purchase if desired. We will then stop for lunch and henna. If time permits, we will stop at the famous Rissani Market, one of Morocco's oldest souks. We will then make the journey to Merzouga, where you will enjoy your dinner and stay in the beautiful Riad with a warm Berber welcome.
DAY 6 - DESERT DAY Today will begin with a delightful breakfast at the Riad Jouba. We will dive into the desert culture beginning with exploring sand dunes in 4X4 vehicles. We will engage in a cultural experience with nomadic communities, sharing tea and gaining insights into their traditional way of life. As we traverse the desert landscape, we’ll take a moment to search for fossils, and listen to the Gnawa African band. We’ll arrive back at the Riad for lunch. After lunch you will have the chance to relax by the pool. If you prefer, you can experience an ATV ride in the dunes (extra fee) before beginning the camel ride to the luxury desert camp. Here we will have an unforgettable experience in the heart of the Sahara desert. Your night stay will be complete with star gazing, Berber music, & a full traditional dinner.
DAY 7- MARRAKECH SOUK We will start in the desert camp, waking early to watch the sunrise spill across the dunes before trying a bit of sandboarding on the soft golden sand. After enjoying breakfast at camp, we will begin our journey toward Ouarzazate. Along the way, we will stop at a local rug shop to learn about Berber weaving traditions, then continue on to the towering cliffs of Todra Gorge for a refreshing walk through the canyon. From there, we will travel through the Dades Valley and make our way to the famous ksar of Ait Ben Haddou, exploring its ancient mudbrick architecture and incredible viewpoints. By evening, we will arrive in Ouarzazate and settle into our accommodations after a full day of adventure.
DAY 8 - OUARZAZATE TO MARRAKECH We will wake up, and continue through the scenic High Atlas Mountains, enjoying breathtaking views, and stop at the Tizi n'Tichka pass. We can stop at the Argon oil shop before lunch. As we descend towards Marrakech, we’ll stop to visit the picturesque village of Taddert and experience local culture. We will arrive in Marrakech in the afternoon, where you can take time to immerse yourself into the vibrant atmosphere of the medina. Here, you can explore the bustling souks, and historic landmarks like the Koutoubia Mosque, and the lively Jemaa el-Fna square. In the square you can admire street performers, and colorful fruit stands. End the day with dinner and a stay at your beautiful Riad. It is also possible to take time for a relaxing Hammam in the evening.
DAY 9 - DEPARTURE MARRAKECH After breakfast, take a few final moments to admire the views from the riad and wander the souks for any last treasures. After lunch, your driver will escort you to the airport for your departure, as you carry the memories, connections, and inspiration of your Moroccan journey home.
